SatData.
Know exactly where you stand.
SatData shows every positioning reading your iPhone can produce — position, altitude, heading, accuracy, sun and moon — explained in plain words, for hikers, campers, geocachers and anyone who wants the numbers behind the blue dot. Everything is calculated on the phone, so it works on a summit, at sea and in a basement, with no signal at all. Every value says how sure the phone is and whether it was measured, derived or inferred. Nothing is made up.
Download size
No bloat, and we mean it literally
About two hundred data fields, the sun and moon calculations and the World Magnetic Model — all in about 2.7 MB. No ad library, no tracking SDK, nothing aboard that is not the app itself.
Features
What SatData does
Now — where you stand
Position in decimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds or degrees and decimal minutes. Altitude above sea level, speed, heading and air pressure, every unit system shown at once — and a quality word from EXCELLENT to POOR on every reading.
Nav — find your way back
Mark where you are, type or paste a coordinate in any format, or pick a point on the map. Then follow a compass dial or one big arrow back to it, with distance, bearing and time to reach. Up to twenty waypoints, kept on your phone.
Sky — sun and moon
Where the sun and moon are right now, and when they rise, peak and set. Golden hour, the three twilights, moon phase, age and distance, plus upcoming phases, equinoxes and solstices.
Survey — your tightest coordinate
Set the phone down and let it average fixes for 30 seconds to two minutes. You get an honest statement of how tight the result is, and one tap to save it as a waypoint.
Data — for people who want everything
About two hundred fields: UTM, MGRS, geohash, Plus Codes, Maidenhead and Earth-centred coordinates, GPS week, leap seconds and sidereal time — with exports to GPX, CSV, JSON, NMEA and plain text.
No signal needed
Every reading is worked out on the device. The one online feature is Apple’s map tiles, and the app says so when offline.
The promise
How every averyio app works
No bloat
Megabytes, not gigabytes. No frameworks bolted on, no ad libraries, no analytics SDK phoning home — nothing ships that has not earned its place.
No subscriptions
One price, paid once — no monthly fee, no in-app purchases, nothing that quietly renews. What you buy is yours to keep.
No ads, ever
Not a banner, not an interstitial, not a “watch this to continue”. You are the customer, never the product.
Private by design
Privacy is the default here, not a setting you have to go and find. No account to create, no analytics, and nothing sold to anyone — and where an app uses iCloud, it is your own private iCloud, a database we cannot read.
FAQ
SatData questions, answered
Before you rely on it
SatData is a reference tool, not a safety device or a certified navigation or surveying instrument. Any reading can be wrong, so verify anything that matters against an independent source and never rely on this app alone to find a route, a person or safety. Its guidance is a straight line, for recreational use only. It is provided as-is, without warranty, and the developer’s liability is limited to the fullest extent the law allows. The full notice appears when the app first opens and under Settings › Disclaimer.
Does it work without a signal?
Yes. SatData keeps working with no mobile signal and no Wi-Fi, because nothing it shows has to be fetched. Only the map needs the internet.
Does it show satellites and signal strength?
No, and it says so. iOS gives apps no satellite count or signal strengths, so SatData shows none. What you get instead is how accurate each fix is, and how old.
Can I navigate to my own coordinates?
Yes. A destination can be a spot you marked, a place chosen on the map or a coordinate you enter yourself, in whichever format you have it. SatData then points directly at it and shows how far away it is.
Can I export the data?
Yes. The Data tab exports as GPX, CSV, JSON, NMEA or plain text.
Is there a subscription or in-app purchases?
No. SatData is a one-time purchase — pay once and every feature is included, forever. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads.
Does it share my location?
No. Nothing leaves your phone — there is no account and no tracking. The only time the app goes online is to fetch Apple’s map tiles. The full detail is in the SatData privacy policy.
What devices does it run on?
iPhone running iOS 18.0 or later. Precise Location is required, and the app follows your Larger Text setting.
