Welcome to SatData, an application developed by averyio ("we," "us," or "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the SatData app, how it is used, and how it is protected. By downloading and using SatData, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
2. Information Collection and Use
We do not collect, store, or share any personal information about you. SatData is designed to function without requiring you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personally identifiable information directly with averyio. Every reading the app shows — your position, altitude, heading, the sun and moon, and the rest — is calculated on your device, and all data generated by your use of the app remains entirely on your local device unless otherwise specified below through Apple's standard services.
Waypoints and settings: the positions you save and the preferences you choose are stored in the app's own data on your device. If you back up your device to iCloud or to a computer, they are included in that backup like any other app's data, under your own Apple account and Apple's terms. No server of ours ever receives them.
Exports: when you export readings (for example as a GPX, CSV or JSON file), the file is created on your device and handed to the app or person you choose through the iOS share sheet. Nothing is sent to us.
3. Purchases
SatData is a paid app with a one-time upfront purchase. It contains no In-App Purchases and no subscriptions.
Payment Processing: Your initial purchase is processed directly and securely by Apple via the App Store.
Data Access: We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID credentials. We only receive anonymized confirmation from Apple that a purchase has taken place.

4. Analytics and Usage Data
We do not use any third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.) within SatData.
We only have access to anonymized, aggregated analytics provided by Apple App Store Connect. This data is entirely controlled by your iOS device settings and is only shared with us if you have opted in to share app analytics with developers.
This data may include:
- App crash reports
- Number of downloads and deletions
- General usage metrics (e.g., sessions per active device)
This information is strictly used to identify bugs, improve the app's performance, and understand general user engagement. It cannot be used to identify you personally. You can change your analytics sharing preferences at any time in your iOS device Settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements).
5. Third-Party Services and Advertising
No Ads: SatData does not display any advertisements.
No Tracking: We do not use any third-party tracking software, advertising networks, or SDKs that collect data on our behalf.
Network Access: SatData performs every calculation on your device and makes no network requests of its own. The one feature that uses the internet is the map display, which shows Apple Maps. To draw the map, Apple's MapKit framework requests map tiles from Apple for the area on screen; that request goes from your device to Apple, not to us, and is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy. When there is no connection the map says so and every other part of the app carries on working. No other third party receives any data from SatData.
6. Permissions
Location: SatData asks for Precise Location while you are using the app. This is the whole point of the app: it reads your position, altitude, speed and heading from your device's positioning system and shows them to you. These readings are processed on your device. They are never transmitted to averyio, and they leave your device only in the two ways described above — as the map area Apple needs to draw the map, and in any export you choose to share. You can withdraw this permission at any time in iOS Settings, although the app cannot show readings without it.
Motion & Fitness: SatData asks for motion access to read the barometer and the device's attitude, which feed the air pressure and related readings. This data stays on your device.
SatData does not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or any other sensitive data on your device, and it sends no notifications.
7. Children's Privacy
SatData does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and publishing the updated policy within the app or on its App Store listing.
